Oxford’s FM107.9 wins New York radio award
Oxford’s FM107.9 Sunday show, Girls Talk, has been named one of the world’s best radio shows. It has scooped bronze in the category of Best Music/ Personality Show at the annual & prestigious New York Festivals Radio Broadcasting Awards.
These international awards recognise "The World's Best Work" in radio programming. Entries were judged by panels of radio experts for their production values, organization, and presentation of information, creativity and use of the medium.
Oxford's FM107.9 competed against stations such as Heart FM in London and Heart FM West Midlands. The candidates were whittled down to five today it was announced that the show – devised and presented by FM107.9’s Anna Cookson – has scooped the bronze trophy.
Ian Walker – FM107.9’s General Manager comments: “I am thrilled that Girls Talk has been internationally recognised for its ground-breaking format. Anna has proven that a simple concept, based on what a group of girls talk about when they on mass visit the ladies room, has become a must listen show and we have simply been overwhelmed by listener reaction. Girls Talk is a unique forum for Oxford women to chat about the things that really matter to them, everything from dating to dieting, breast cancer and between the sheets confessions. It seems fitting that this has happened in the county’s millennium year – Oxfordshire should be very proud indeed that we are being represented on a global scale.”
Catch the internationally award-winning Girls Talk with Anna and the girls every Sunday evening from 8-10pm only on Oxford’s FM107.9. (www.fm1079.com)
